Recently acquired by the R&G Fluid Power group, we are seeking a business development manager with experience of the valve industry in the UK. To support our expansion plans and drive growth, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Business Development Manager to join our team. The R&G Fluid Power Group of UK based businesses offers unrivalled expertise, experience and product knowledge of fluid power products and systems for businesses.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Business Development Managers role will be to target and develop both new and existing customers, end users, OEMs and contractors, generating leads and enquiries, meeting targets. This position is responsible for formulating and executing strategic business development initiatives to expand market share, enhance customer relationships, and maximise revenue streams. Expected to be actively visiting customer multiple times a week.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Strategic Planning: Develop and implement specific business development strategies in alignment with both Valves Online and R&G Group goals and objectives.
• Market Analysis: Conduct comprehensive market research and competitor analysis to identify growth opportunities, trends, and threats within the valve industry.
• Customer Engagement: Build and nurture strong relationships with key customers and partners to understand their needs and align business strategies accordingly.
• New Business Development: Identify, evaluate and visit potential new business opportunities.
• Sales Growth: Drive sales and revenue growth through the development and execution of sales and marketing plans, including pricing strategies and product positioning. JOB DIMENSIONS / SCOPE Responsible for managing and expanding a diverse portfolio of clients, ranging from small businesses to large enterprises across different industries. The ability to understand and cater to the unique needs of each customer is critical.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• Experience in a sales or business development role focusing on end users, OEMs and contractors.
• Technical knowledge of industrial valves, actuation and controls.
• Customer-centric approach with a strong ability to build and maintain long-term client relationships.
• Effective communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
• A self-motivated and results-oriented professional with a drive to achieve and exceed targets.
• Willingness to travel, this role requires frequent travel and overnight stays within the region to meet clients and support the sales team – Full UK driving licence is required.
RELATING TO PEOPLE INTERNALLY
The Business Development Manager will work closely with different departments within the division including Sales, Marketing and Operations, to ensure alignment on strategies, goals, and priorities. The ability to collaborate with the sales team will be critical to ensure we provide quick solutions and seamless support to the customer.
RELATING TO PEOPLE EXTERNALLY
This role will be a primary point of contact for new and existing clients, and the key to being successful will be building and maintaining strong, long-lasting relationships with clients. The Business Development Manager will need to have the ability to understand a client’s needs, anticipate their requirements, and ensure their utmost satisfaction with our products and services.
KEY COMPETENCIES / CAPABILITIES
• Expertise in formulating and executing strategic business development plans that align with the divisional and local strategies and objectives. Adeptness in identifying and prioritising target markets and key accounts.
• Strong negotiation skills with a focus on achieving positive outcomes for the company and customers.
• Demonstrated success in closing deals and exceeding targets.
• Commitment to and enthusiasm for our products and services across the Industrial Division.
• A strong background in the valve industry in a similar role with success in dealing with end users, OEMs and contractors.
• Being able to work from your own initiative meeting customers face to face.

• Location: Remote – can be based anywhere in the UK – willingness to travel and stay over is essential.
