Principal Technical Consultant & Leading Lecturer

Peter Dix is a Chartered Engineer and a Member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers. He has over thirty years' experience in the valve industry, working as a Technical Director and General Manager for some of the industry's biggest companies including IMI, Dresser, Tyco, Alco and Kent Introl.

Peter is the Chairman of BSI's technical committees on valves, and the UK's representative to international standards organisations. He is hugely experienced in the design and manufacture of gate, globe, check, quarter-turn, safety-relief and control valves. Peter has devised PED compliant systems and worked with the PED since its inception.

Ron has a background of over 40 years in the valve industry and has wide and extensive knowledge of all processes involved in the design, manufacture and inspection of industrial valves. Ron is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. He has been involved in the implementation and execution of directive compliance at a high level since their introduction at several valve companies as a technical director.

Paul Reeve is a Chartered Engineer and a registered functional safety engineer (with the Institute of Measurement & Control). Paul has over 20 years’ experience of delivering training, consultancy and independent assessments in the field of “functional safety” and SILs for clients around the world. Paul believes that functional safety is something we should all be aware of as there is so much reliance these days on the integrity of modern automated systems.

Adrian Croft

Control Valve Consultant and Lecturer
Adrian has worked in the control valve industry since 1977 when he started his apprenticeship at Blakeborough Valves in Brighouse, which later became part of the Weir Group, now Trillium. Whilst at Blakeborough he was involved in most aspects of control valves, from design, specification, onsite support and providing applications solutions. In 2002 he moved to Kent Introl where he was responsible for providing control valve applications solutions. Adrian moved back to Weir in 2004 as Control Valve Product Manager in a more sales orientated role which often involved giving technical presentations to customers and end users and visiting sites to investigate problem valves. He now works as a Specialist Valve Engineer.

For the last 31 years Graeme has worked for Rotork, one of the leading actuator manufacturing companies in the world. He joined as a service engineer travelling extensively into many process industries including oil & gas, power generation and water treatment. After 15 years of site work, gaining experience in installation, repair and commissioning of electric valve actuators, he joined Rotork’s training department, and for over 16 years has delivered training courses on electric actuators all over the world.

Jason Irwin

Jason has worked for major manufacturers in the Safety Relief Valve Industry for over 30 years, covering various different roles. He started his career in technical sales, specialising in the project business for North Sea he developed a detailed understanding of the codes, standards, applications and metallurgy specific to safety valve installations. His career has taken him all over the world, including secondments in USA, The Netherlands and France undertaking project, technical internal & external sales roles. Latterly as regional sales manager for EMEA & Russia, Jason travelled extensively spending, much of his time providing technical assistance & training to end users, EPC contractors, sales representatives and valve maintenance professionals. Currently working as Sales & Operations Director in UK, Jason now oversees sales & operations, including the training arm of a major PSV manufacturer.
