Purpose:
Working as part of the engineering team to investigate new technologies and manufacturing methods, deliver innovative new products to the market and optimise costs in existing designs.
Key Accountabilities:
- Utilising Severns best practice and experiences to develop product concepts and customer requirements into viable design solutions
- Development of innovative solutions to industry wide problems.
- Investigation into materials and manufacturing options to optimise, cost-effectiveness, and performance.
- Design of tests to evaluate products and solutions meet customer and regulatory requirements
- Guaranteeing deadlines are met to ensure the success of development projects.
- Management and progress reporting on a number of small research projects.
Expertise:
Essential
- Higher National Certificates/Diplomas or equivalent from college; with at least 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Computer Skills in 3D Design / 2D Drafting (Solid Edge) & Microsoft Suite.
- Good communication skills to enable cross functional working both internally and externally
- Experience of new product introduction ideally within a controlled environment
Desirable
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organisation.
- Experience of design for manufacture and production techniques
- Experience of managing projects.
- Experience of working with a remote team both in the UK and abroad
