Purpose:

Working as part of the engineering team to investigate new technologies and manufacturing methods, deliver innovative new products to the market and optimise costs in existing designs.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Utilising Severns best practice and experiences to develop product concepts and customer requirements into viable design solutions
  • Development of innovative solutions to industry wide problems.
  • Investigation into materials and manufacturing options to optimise, cost-effectiveness, and performance.
  • Design of tests to evaluate products and solutions meet customer and regulatory requirements
  • Guaranteeing deadlines are met to ensure the success of development projects.
  • Management and progress reporting on a number of small research projects.

Expertise:

Essential

  • Higher National Certificates/Diplomas or equivalent from college; with at least 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Computer Skills in 3D Design / 2D Drafting (Solid Edge) & Microsoft Suite.
  • Good communication skills to enable cross functional working both internally and externally
  • Experience of new product introduction ideally within a controlled environment

Desirable

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organisation.
  • Experience of design for manufacture and production techniques
  • Experience of managing projects.
  • Experience of working with a remote team both in the UK and abroad
