We are offering a refresher course on the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) online over a highly informative 2 hour session. This digital training is provided in the secure online format Microsoft TEAMS to allow for delegate participation and an interactive Q&A session.

The course is designed to give a general understanding and comprehensive overview of what is involved with the most important directive for valve manufacturers. This directive is concerned with the risks due to internal pressure and this programme will include what equipment is covered by the PED and what is not.

Following the session, you will be equipped with knowledge of categories, categorisation and modules. You will have an understanding of Economic Operators and what they have to do as well as information regarding the essential safety requirements at your disposal. Questions such as, ‘What should be in a technical file?’ will be answered and guidance on the documents involved given and a look at the materials and certification requirements. The recent changes to the UK Pressure Equipment (Safety) Regulations and how this affects UKCA marking will also be covered. Your questions will be encouraged.

Each attendee will receive a certificate of attendance.

Course Leader: Ron Strang The course is delivered by Ron Strang. He has a background of over 40 years in the valve industry and has wide and extensive knowledge of all processes involved in the design, manufacture and inspection of industrial valves. Ron is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. He has been involved in the implementation and execution of directive compliance at a high level since their introduction at several valve companies as a technical director.

Classroom based training

Our one-day classroom-based courses will follow a similar format:

  • Offices open from 8.30am onwards
  • The course will start at 9.00am prompt
  • There will be a break for lunch, usually 12.30pm - 1.00pm
  • Each course will finish at 5.00pm at the latest

We provide a buffet lunch and would be grateful if you could inform us if you have any dietary restrictions or preferences on booking.

Full notes and course materials are supplied. Delegates will also receive a BVAA Manual specific to the course they attend.

Accessibility

Our training facility is on the first floor, with no wheelchair access. On both the ground floor and first floor we have an accessible toilet.
